Artisan Tarot – Linocut Print of Le Bateleur

By February 14, 2021 No Comments

We hope your year is off to a great start. Gregg and I miss seeing you at the Denver Magic Show. Once it’s safe to host live events, we plan on resuming our weekly show.

Last year was filled with new opportunities. One accomplishment was that we started a new company called Artisan Tarot and ran a successful Indiegogo campaign to fund the restoration of the Nicolas Conver Tarot from 1760. Our goal was to create a deck and lapel pins to use in our show.

Our campaign was fully funded and now we have the deck and pins in stock. The response from the community has been huge. We have sold more than half of our decks!

Over the past few months, our partner Krisztin Kondor created a beautiful linocut print of Le Bateleur. In English this translates to The Magician. She spent over 100 hours producing the print. This includes carving the linosheets, mixing the colors, and pressing the artwork.

Click here to watch her print the black lines to complete Le Bateleur.

The printing process takes a week due to the complexity of the design and colors. The colors are printed individually from 7 linosheets. It takes a day to print each color as the paint has to dry before the next color is added. This insures that the lines are crisp and precise.

This is a limited release of 25 prints. Only 5 remain from our initial run. Due to the time consuming printing process, it will be several months before our next batch. The artwork is on A3 archival paper. Each print is numbered and signed.
