We are excited to have Rui Yamagishi perform at our Denver Magic Show!

Rui Yamagishi’s home is in Kanazawa, Japan, where he performs magic 6 nights a week and serves drinks to late-night patrons at his bar. But on Monday, September 9, 2019, he will headline the Denver Magic Show at the historic Patterson Inn.

The story of how he was booked to perform in Denver requires knowing a bit about night life in Japan.

In Japan, after a long day at work, it is expected that you will go out with your co-workers to socialize. These social outing can last several hours and generally involve the consumption of alcohol as workers blow off steam while moving from bar to bar.

As a result, themed bars are popular in Japan – each bar offering a unique attraction to bring customers in.

Yamagishi’s bar is decorated with posters of magicians, magic books, and video screens with clips of famous magicians. But the real draw is Yamagishi himself.

Over the past 10 years he has been quietly honing his craft by performing magic from 7:00 in the evening until 3:00 in the morning. His bar is small, accommodating 25 people at a time, but the close proximity allows him to perform miracles for his customers.

It was here that William Rader, a co-founder of the Denver Magic Show, first saw Yamagishi perform.

Yamagishi launched into a performance that spanned 6 full hours. During that time, he performed original magic of his own creation and showed himself to be an elegant and graceful performer.

Impressed with Yamagishi’s depth of knowledge and mastery of the art, Rader quickly decided to invite Yamagishi to come to the States – first to deliver a lecture to other magicians, and then to perform at the Denver Magic Show.

Yamagishi’s unique style and innovative techniques are a delight to watch. He has prepared some of his most astonishing feats for his performance in Denver.

You can see Yamagishi perform at the Patterson Inn (420 E. 11th Avenue, Denver) on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 7:30pm where he will share the stage with magicians William Rader and Gregg Tobo as part of the Denver Magic Show. Tickets are $30 for General Admission and $40 for VIP Seating.
